Ambassador Robinson and Deputy Chief of Mission, Charisse Phillips, met with alumni from the Access Microscholarship program and members of the U.S. Department of State’s Alumni Association AJEDE for a tour of the island of Flores, Petén.
The youth accompanied both U.S. officials to visit several of the area’s most prominent sites. With great interest and special thanks for the opportunity to meet with young leaders of Flores, the Ambassador and DCM listened to the stories about the Cathedral, the central park, the Valentín del Valle Theater and the Arismendi Castle.
In addition to discussing historical and cultural details of the place, the former Access students had the opportunity to share with the Ambassador about the opportunities for young people in El Petén. We support young people to use English as a tool to help them discover and forge opportunities for prosperity for themselves and their community.
