Location: Guatemala   

Event: Volcanic eruption, Fuego Volcano  

FUEGO VOLCANO: 

The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (INSIVUMEH) reports Volcano Fuego has erupted, dispersing volcanic ash to the northeast, east, and southeast as far as Guatemala City.  

La Aurora International Airport has resumed flights having suspended operations earlier this morning, December 11.  RN-14 between Antigua and Escuintla is currently closed.  U.S. citizens are advised to stay alert, expect travel delays, and monitor local conditions. 

GOG Response Update: 

Closure of Route 14 between Antigua and Escuintla. 

CONRED (Coordinadora Nacional Para la Reducción de Desastres) and INSIVUMEH are issuing multiple daily bulletins. 

 Note U.S. Embassy operations are normal.

Review your personal security plans.
