Ambassador William W. Popp Thanksgiving Message to U.S. Citizens

3 MINUTE READ
November 23, 2022

On behalf of the entire U.S. Embassy community, my family and I extend the warmest greetings and best wishes to everyone celebrating Thanksgiving in Guatemala.

This season is a time to give thanks for our blessings and to celebrate the things we cherish most: our families, friends, peace, and prosperity. We are especially grateful for greater opportunities to be with loved ones.

We understand how important it can be for Americans to travel and be with family during holidays like Thanksgiving. Our Consular team is working diligently to help our U.S. citizens who need to renew their passports or are waiting for loved ones to join them through the immigration process.

So far this year, our consular officers have issued over 5200 passports and over 5300 immigrant visas to help reunite families in the United States. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure our U.S. citizens are documented, can travel freely, and have the latest information they need to travel safely during the holidays.

All of us in the U.S. Mission are thankful for the opportunity to serve the United States overseas, and we are especially grateful for the strong friendship we enjoy with Guatemala, based on a solid foundation of shared values. Wherever you are spending the holiday, may you be surrounded by friends and family.

On this quintessentially American holiday, we wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!
