Association of Access alumi in Cobán are an example of importance of investing in education

We visited the projects of the Association of Young Alumni of the U.S. Department of State (AJEDE) in Cobán, Alta Verapaz. An educational project management workshop was conducted by the association’s committee to empower its members to lead projects planned in 2018, which include BEAR (Basic English for Access Recruitment), the English Access Microscholarship and SEAL (Service Learning, English Usage, Alumni Engagement, Leadership) programs. AJEDE and the projects it develops in Cobán are an example of how the educational investment that has been made since 2010 has resulted in prosperity for alumni and their community. More than 40 young graduates from the Access program work as English teachers in educational and university centers.
