Carol Bellamy, Former Director and former Volunteer of the Peace Corps in Guatemala

Ms. Carol Bellamy was part of the first generation of Peace Corps volunteers in Guatemala from 1963 to 1965, then became the first former volunteer to lead that organization that has a presence in more than 64 countries.

Carol is back in Guatemala and her visit is part of the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Peace Corps in this country, which during that period has had more than 5,000 volunteers offering their service to support the prosperity of the communities working with schools, community organizations, municipalities and other public institutions as well as the private sector, in health, youth and food security programs.

Mrs. Bellamy has dedicated her life to working in organizations focused on development and has forged an extraordinary career in issues of multiculturalism, diversity and protection of minorities in different international organizations.
