Recently, a CentamSmoke exercise was carried out to share operational experiences with the participation of American firefighters from the 612 Air Squad and 30 firefighters from Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.
The training covered security issues, personal protection equipment, structural and aircraft fire evolutions, basic medical preparation, vehicle extraction and familiarization with aircraft for loading and unloading patients.
The exercise was carried out at the Soto Cano Air Base, which offers the ideal space for this type of activity. At the head of the training was a team of highly qualified instructors, very enthusiastic about helping to develop the capacities of Central American colleagues in the fight against fires and the coordination of response to natural disasters in the region.
In addition, this was an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between Central America and the United States.
