Foreign National Student Intern Program (FNSIP)

What It Is

The purpose of the FNSIP is to offer foreign national students accepted into the program the unique opportunity of experiencing a foreign affairs work environment.  It is designed for students who are non-U.S. citizens seeking internships with U.S. Embassies outside the U.S.  This program benefits both the U.S. Embassy and students by providing the non-U.S. students with valuable educational experience in Embassy and by assisting the Embassy in accomplishing its mission goals.  There are no benefits attached to this internship, the intern is not an employee of the Embassy, Department of State, or the United States Government.  The internship is uncompensated/unpaid.

The program is open to students who are Guatemalan or permanent legal residents of Guatemala, at least 18 years of age, who have graduated from high school or equivalent secondary school, are enrolled not less than half-time in a trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, university or comparable recognized educational institution in Guatemala.  Students with dual citizenship including U.S. are not eligible for this program, but should apply for the U.S. Citizenship program.  Students must be able to communicate fluently in English and should have personal medical insurance.
