Expiration of COVID-19 Pandemic Era MRV Fee Receipts
If you paid for your MRV during the pandemic, you must schedule your appointment before September 30

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala was very limited in the number of interview appointments we could schedule for non immigrant visa applicants, for the safety of the public and our staff.  To provide enough time for applicants to schedule an appointment, the U.S Department of State extended the use of the Machine-Readable Visa (MRV) fees paid before October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023.

To avoid the expiration of an MRV fee payment made before October 1, 2022, applicants must schedule an appointment for a regular visa interview or an interview waiver document drop-off appointment  before September 30, 2023.

After September 30, 2023, any attempt to schedule or re-schedule an appointment   paid before October 1, 2022 will result in the forfeiture of the original appointment and the MRV fee receipt.  The applicant will have to pay a new fee and submit a new application package.

Please note that the appointment itself does not need to take place on or before  September 30, 2023 – it only needs to be scheduled in our system by that time.  The date for the appointment may be scheduled many months in the future.

The normal time allowed to schedule an appointment is 365 days from the date of payment of an MRV fee.

Appointments can be scheduled or re-scheduled on www.ustraveldocs.com. If you have any doubts as to whether your MRV fee payment was made before October 1, 2022, please contact our call center at (502) 2376-1978 if you are calling from Guatemala and +1 (703) 745-5477 if you are calling from the U.S. or visit our website www.ustraveldocs.com under the “Contact Us” tab to reach one of our agents ready to assist you.
