Guatemalan National Civil Police officers graduate from S.W.A.T.

20 agents of the National Civil Police of Guatemala and 10 agents of the National Police of Honduras graduated from the course on Special Weapons And Tactics S.W.A.T.

Deputy Chief of Mission, Charisse Phillips, Florida Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Antinarcotics Affairs, Luis Arreaga, participated in the graduation ceremony with the President of Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, and the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández.

The S.W.A.T. training was given by the Miami-Dade Police Department in coordination with U.S. Department of State: Bureau of Intl Narcotics & Law Enforcement (INL). For three weeks, the agents prepared themselves to improve their work capacity as a highly specialized unit and also had the opportunity to acquire technical skills that they will replicate respectively in their countries.

This work reiterates the commitment of the United States through the support of INL-GT to strengthen the capabilities of the PNC and contribute to improving citizen security in Guatemala.
