Guatemalan representatives visit the LAPD to learn about gang-prevention

Guatemalan delegation visits LAPD to learn about gang prevention.

Guatemala’s Minister of the Interior, Francisco Rivas, and the Guatemalan Police Director, Nery Ramos, led a Guatemalan delegation that traveled the United States for the purpose of conducting a visit to the Los Angeles Police Department and learn about the strategies they use to address the issue of gangs.

The delegation also had the opportunity to identify methods that could be adopted to combat the scourge of gangs and violence in Guatemala. This initiative responds to the support the United States offers through the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Intl. Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) to work together with the Government of Guatemala to strengthen the capabilities of the National Police and contribute to citizen security.
