IVLP Alumni organizes event with professional women in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM

To commemorate Women´s History Month, Physics professor and lecturer of the Program for International Visiting Leaders IVLP (for its acronym in English) of the U.S. Department of State, Waleska Aldana, organized an event with women professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM (for its acronym in English).

San Carlos University of Guatemala and Galileo University sponsored the event, where the panelists included women from different countries with outstanding careers in STEM shared their experiences and the challenges they have faced in their careers. Another purpose to bring together this group of women is to show the advances in equity and job opportunity in these disciplines. When girls see solid models of successful women in STEM careers, they can see themselves in those roles and aspire to achieve great things essential for prosperity in Guatemala.
