Local Nexus of USAID Guatemala in Sacapulas, Quiché promotes transparent municipal governments

Ambassador Luis Arreaga visited Sacapulas, Quiché, where he observed the work done by USAID Guatemala through Local Nexus to promote transparent municipal governments that seek to improve the socioeconomic conditions of the population in an effective and inclusive manner and strengthen good governance.

The Ambassador met the mayor of Sacapulas, and visited the municipal water system and the solid waste classification plant. These are two examples of public services that with the support of training and technical assistance from USAID Guatemala, have managed to integrate the work of local government with the participation of civil society to not only guarantee the quality of services to the population through social audit and citizen participation, but also to achieve impact on priority issues such as health and the reduction of chronic malnutrition.
