Medical Readiness Training Exercise in Retalhuleu

Ambassador Luis Arreaga and US Major General Mark H. Berry, together with authorities of the Guatemalan Army, visited the Medical Readiness Training Exercise that both countries are carrying out in the department of Retalhuleu.

The Arkansas National Guard together with the Army and Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare of Guatemala provided primary care to approximately 2000 patients with the help of 32 US physicians of several specialties, from December 1 to 9, as part of the support of the United States Government and the important bilateral work with the Government of Guatemala for the security and prosperity of the country.

The Medical Readiness Training Exercise seeks to provide training to military personnel from both countries to provide medical care under austere conditions, promote diplomatic relations between the two countries and provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations in the region.
