Message for U.S. Citizens: U.S. Embassy Moving to Zone 16 on February 6, 2023 (January 12, 2023)
On February 6, 2023, the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala City will be relocating to its new location at:
Boulevard Austriaco 11-51, Zone 16, Guatemala City
We look forward to welcoming the public to our new state-of-the-art U.S. Embassy campus where all agencies, including USAID, will be co-located. This facility is one of the most modern, advanced, and environmentally friendly diplomatic platforms in the world and is equipped with new spacious consular facilities and waiting areas.
Parking
While there is no available public parking onsite at the new Embassy location in Zone 16, there are several nearby commercial parking facilities. There is also a drop-off and pick-up area in front of the new Embassy.
American Citizens Services
The last day for routine passport, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), Consular Report of Death Abroad (CRODA), and notarial services at the U.S. Embassy’s current Zone 10 location on Avenida La Reforma will be Thursday, January 26. Routine appointments for American Citizen Services will resume at the new Zone 16 location on Tuesday, February 7.
We will have extremely limited capacity to provide emergency American Citizens Services between Tuesday, January 31, and Monday, February 6. U.S. citizens needing emergency assistance should contact the American Citizens Services unit by email at AmCitsGuatemala@state.gov.
U.S. Passport and CRBA Pick-Up
U.S. citizens may pick up passports and CRBAs through Tuesday, January 31, between 10:30 am and 12:00 noon at the Zone 10 location. U.S. citizens may pick up passports and CRBAs beginning Monday, February 6, between 10:30 am and 12:00 noon at the Zone 16 location. No appointment is necessary, but please present your receipt and pick-up slip. U.S. passport and CRBA pick up will be unavailable between February 1-5, 2023.
If you requested to receive your passport by courier, please visit https://www.cargoexpreso.com/ or call PBX 2474 4444, provide your tracking number, and confirm that your new passport has arrived at the designated agency before you go to pick it up. Note that Cargo Expreso will only retain your passport at the agency for 2 weeks and then will return it to the U.S. Embassy. Thereafter you will have to come in person to pick it up at the Embassy as indicated above.
Schedule Routine American Citizens Services Appointments
Please plan ahead and schedule a routine passport appointment at least four (4) weeks before you intend to travel. Please do not book non-refundable travel until your new passport is in hand.

Nonimmigrant Visas

The last day for routine nonimmigrant visa services at the U.S. Embassy’s Zone 10 location will be Thursday, January 26. Routine appointments for nonimmigrant visas will resume on Tuesday, February 7. We will have extremely limited capacity to provide emergency nonimmigrant visas services between Friday, January 27th, and Monday, February 6th. Applicants with emergency needs should contact us by email at support-guatemala@ustraveldocs.com for information on emergency appointments.
If you received a yellow ticket to collect your passport at the Embassy, please be advised that if the date on your ticket is prior to January 27, your passport will be passed back at the Zone 10 location. If your ticket indicates a date on or after February 7, your passport will be passed back at the new location in Zone 16. Passports will not be available for pick-up at either location from January 27 to February 6, 2023.
Document Delivery Services for Immigrant and Nonimmigrant Visa Applications
Please be advised that there is no change in document drop-off or delivery services for immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applicants due to our move to the new Embassy location in Zone 16. However, there will be no action taken on your case between Friday, January 27, and Friday, February 3. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will also move to the new embassy in Zone 16. USCIS will not provide public services from January 30 to February 3, 2023, but you may continue to send inquiries via email to guatemala.uscis@uscis.dhs.gov, and USCIS will make every effort to reply in a timely manner.
