REF# 2021 - 22
Due to ongoing restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala regretfully announces the rescheduling of nonimmigrant visa appointments scheduled between September 1, 2021, and April 30, 2022. The safety and security of all visa applicants and staff remains a top priority. This change comes as the result of our continued adherence to social distancing measures and a restricted waiting room capacity, which has limited the number of applicants that can be safely scheduled for an interview on a given day.
In the coming days, affected applicants will receive an email at the address registered with ustraveldocs.com notifying them that their appointment has been rescheduled, and providing instruction on how to print their new appointment letter containing the revised date. Questions should be directed to our online web chat service at https://ustraveldocs.com/gt_es/gt-main-contactus.asp or by calling +502-2376-1978.
Applicants for student and exchange visitor visas, petition-based employment visas, and emergency visas will retain their currently scheduled interview date.
While in-person appointments remain limited, an increased number of drop-off appointments are now available for visa renewals through the Cargo Expreso mail-in service. If you believe you qualify for this service, please visit https://ustraveldocs.com/gt_es/gt-niv-visarenew.asp for further information.
We acknowledge the impact the reduction of services has had on families, individuals, and businesses. We are committed to providing our citizens and the people of Guatemala as many services as circumstances permit, while ensuring the safety and security of all those involved. We sincerely appreciate the public’s patience and we hope we can gradually increase the number of services available. We encourage the public, as always, to follow our social media for updates and visit our webpage for more information.
